D16Y3 questions need conformation from UK/Europe members or USA if your familiar with

Questions:
1) Wiki states that the D16Y3 uses the same camshaft as D16A6, does this mean i have the ability to install any camshaft that's compatible with a D16A6?

2) I also read that the D16Y3 is already equipt with PM6 pistons and if this is so my CR should be 9:1 right? and if yes is my D16Y3 PM6 pistons the exact mirror image as PM6 piston is USA? don't know why they would be different just asking.

3) Is anyone on this forum from UK/Europe running this specific engine? If yes which motor in the USA can i swap internal parts with or in other words compatible/interchangeable with? or what did you change up internally regarding top/bottom end modifications to build a stronger more HP D16Y3?

Since i didn't find anything helpfull pertaining specifically to the D16Y3 when using the advanced search button and the net would someone who has extensive knowledge or atleast more than me about the D16Y3 PM me or quick reply. I got plans for this engine before i drop in a boosted DOHC ZC which is my end goal in 2 years but want to see what i can do with my current setup in the mean time. Extensive info on my specific motor is slim to none in the USA and I couldn't find any useful thread/build thread anywhere on the net. I messaged bisimoto engineering 7 days ago and still haven't heard a peep but i doubt they would ever answer my questions but got my fingers crossed. If anyone would know they should be the ones who could confirm with their attained knowledge of a variety of d-series engines, well i hope in my case.

Goal: internal mods only >> Boost the D16Y3 with modified top end(heavy port and polish, mild cam, cam gears, springs, retainers etc.), refreshed bottom end(OEM parts) while running 5-10psi low boost with an good tune.

Note: This specific motor came equipt in 1995–1997 Honda Civic MB1 LS (UK/Europe) & 1996–1997 Rover 416 SLI Auto (UK/Europe).

For anyone else who got a D16Y3 and want to build there engine(mild build) I got word back from bisimoto engineering who verified their D-series parts they offer will work on a Y3. Here is what they said pertaining to top end only >>

    Hello Jason,

Thank you for your interest in Bisimoto technology for your build! Must say you have a very clean looking Wagon and I like the concept of building a rare engine that was not available here in the US market. As for after market support Bisimoto can gladly assist with your entire build, however we would need certain components to design custom parts for your unique engine.Bisimoto can offer for your cylinder head complete disassemble/ clean/ inspection, hand port & polish, Bisimoto Spec full radius competition exhaust valve job, Bisimoto spec multi-angle competition intake valve job, de-shroud valves & polish chambers surface deck to mirror finish, new valve seals and re-assembly. Your good head must be sent in without cam caps to Bisimoto Engineering. At time of arrival Bisimoto can also inspect your valve train components to provide the appropriate Bisimoto Pro springs with titanium retainers and Bisimoto lightweight stainless steel valves. For your camshaft Bisimoto offer performance re-profiling services which your factory camshaft core will be machined and precision grinded to Bisimoto specifications. Bisimoto Level 1.2 would be the most ideal profile for a mild boost project such as yours gaining a superior powerband as well increase turbo spool times.
Another recommendation would be a Bisimoto adjustable cam gear to optimize camshaft timing as well power band to fit your racing needs. Bisimoto cam gears are also the only gears on the market designed and machined with serrations between the two adjustable pieces and held together with ARP hardware making them impossible to slip, protecting your investment.

    Pricing(subject to change):
Bisimoto standard Honda head work with porting: $1,049

Bisimoto Pro springs with titanium retainers: starting at $364
Bisimoto lightweight SS valves: starting at $259
    Bisimoto Level 1.2 re-profiling service (D-series non-vtec): $369
  • I hope for that money Bisi is planning on dipping your motor in gold.

As for your motor there are quite a few of those Honda/Rover motors running around over here in Germany and I have no problems finding a US equivalent motor and ordering parts from the States. You will probably find that any SOHC 1.6 Non-vtec part will work. If you are looking for specific parts let me know and I can try and find something over here in Germany to get you some numbers to go by.

@ragenasian Could you please confirm with someone out in your region with a D16Y3 that all SOHC 1.6 non-vtec bottom end parts are interchangeable/compatible? I don't want to purchase any OEM rods, pistons or parts in general and find out later their not compatible because part purchased was made for a specific block. I'm also a member of rovertech.net EU based forum and used the advanced search function specifically looking up D16Y3 and also searched thru their Engine (Tuning/Internals/ECU) section and didn't find anything regarding my questions. If you could help me out or anyone else that could help me out I would greatly appreciate that gesture and the next person that has this same engine and wants to do as I do don't have to do all the foot work and could reference this thread which would help everyone and end all internal parts questions regarding a D16Y3 if any.

@ragenasian Another member recently reiterated what u said, my parts collection has just begun. If at anytime you can share someones experience in your region with the same engine please do so! I would love to hear of other people set-ups with their D16Y3.
