Replacing Distributor every Few Months.

Every few months my 1990 2wd 1.5 Honda Wagon violently cuts out when driving and I have to replace the distributor. It runs for a few months and problem repeats. I'm aware of the rotor button coming loose causing similar symptoms and I always secure it with my own screw and lock tight.
Please please tell me what could be destroying the distributors. I would love this care and would like to drive it for several more years.

There's NO reason this should be happening. Here's a long shot, but easy to do.Get a VOM meter(less than $10 from Harbor Freight).Test the plug wires to see if they spec out to Honda specs.Check the plug gaps are w/in specs.Make sure the plug wires are fully seated to the cap & plugs. If the spark has to jump large gaps this could be MAXing the dizzy out.Try buying just the ignitor(it's sometimes cheaper than a whole dizzy). It's like a 2/3 's size compact flash memory card inside the dizzy.

May be a dumb question on my part, have you checked to be sure the valve cover seals at the bottom of the sparkplug openings have not been or are not presently leaking leaking? If the rubber boots at the end of the plug wires have become oil soaked they will become conductive and blow the electronics out of the distributor.
