Whats up everyone. TK checking in, found this forum while looking for wagons for sale. Hopefully will be purchasing my first EE very soon.

Wagons are getting hard to find in my area but I think I found a gem.

Please check it out and lmk some opinions on it. Price, condition, etc

  • Welcome and just let me say you are brave to post a link to a wagon for sale seeing as how everyone wants one now. You might find it sold before you get a chance to even look at it.

I usually buy all my vehicles from Dallas, y'all always have the cleanest old schools up there.

    Thanks.

I'm going to look at the wagon this afternoon. Any insight as specific problems I should look for? I know the usualy mechanical and operational things and rust, i'm asking mainly for wagon specific things. I've owned plenty of EF's but never a wagon, I'm guessing they're all gonna have the usual bolster tear and driver door lock issue.

    Any insight is greatly appreciated!

I'll up some pics and get y'alls opinions.

    Thanks again!

Well it looks clean enough to me...no obvious tree-size or truck-size dents, interior looks good enough, I'd prolly go for it. I paid $2400 for mine with 218k miles on the clock and didn't hesitate (then again the PO had just done a lotta mechanical work to it to make it pretty solid). Note that LOTS of cosmetic parts are wagon-specific, so you can't get fenders from a sedan and make em fit. Same with passenger's mirror, corner lights, blahblahblah...but from the pics, all that stuff seems to look good!

Maybe someone will chime in with advice about the automatic chokers...my 89 has the stationary belts. Good luck...talk that dealer outta that car! :)
  • Hi TK - I'm in Leander and have had my wagon approx 3 years. It's ugly but gets 35 MPG and hauls a bunch of stuff I couldn't haul with a sedan or hatch. This means less time driving my 12 MPG van and that's good enough for me.

Wagon specific stuff to look for? All the body parts are wagon specific and not available aftermarket. For me this means I cannot replace my dented up fenders with $30 aftermarket replacements like I could with my old Mazda truck.

Good luck on your wagon hunt. I saw a nice one in RR a few months back for $1500 I should have bought just becuse it's nicer than the one I have. Maybe I'll do a low pass and see if it's still there...

I haven't seen a decent RTAWD for sale around here in a while.

Just got back from checking the wagon out. I really like it. As long as my del sol sells this weekend like it's scheduled to that baby will be in my garage by Sunday! :D

It felt good to be back in an EF/EE, tiny cluster, cable tranny, manual windows and all!

you have any pictures of your wagon yet? interested to see what you found
  • the body looks to be in top shape! the paint is nice too. u shouldve checked under the seat covers to see what condition those seats are in. i was fooled when i bought my wagon...not thinking there would be any torn under the drivers seat cover since the passenger and rear seats are in good shape.

Back from the dead again. Still looking for a wagon, they're getting even harder to find in Texas :(

I think i'm going to stop looking for a nice wagon and just buy the next one I find.

If anyone knows of any anywhere in Texas please let me know!
