dpfi tps question

I'm getting an intermittent cel, flash code 7. Searched and found out that's tps, right? When I checked voltage closed/open it fell within spec, but still occasionally I get the idiot light.

I figured I'd replace it... wtf? It's child-proof? What kind of fasteners are those attaching the sensor to the throttle body?I guess the question is:

Do you have to replace the whole TB or can you cut the heads off the (screws?).

Oh, and would a faulty tp sensor cause poor fuel economy to the tune of only 30 mpg with an HF tranny? I guess so, if it's running rich all the time...tailpipe is mighty black. hmmm.
  • It could cause it to run rough because the ECU doesn't know where the throttle is.

You'll have to dremel a slot in the heads or use a chisel to get them out. Vise grips are nice as well.

Speaking of TPS, they are bitches. Annoying as hell and crazy hard to get to work right. I still haven't got my CEL fixed yet.

ive always just removed the TB grind the rivot so u can use a flat head to remove them then 2 shoty 10mm bolts can be used to put the new one in then with the car on but not running use a volt meter at at no throttle it should rear .5 volts and about 4.5-5 volts at WOT.

if memory serves me its the red wire that u check the votage on.
  • TB's are easy to come by, i'd just replace it as a whole. i know i have at least 3-4 of them.
