New Wagovan Fayetteville NC

Finished up the deal on an 87 Wagovan for $700 to work on as a project.
263k miles 5-speed
I suspect this car used to be in a junkyard til someone fixed it up, but all the previous owner knew was the owner before him
fabricated the fender and lights himself.

The good:
-It appears to run just fine lol
-Gets about 25 City 35 Hwy
-Its an actual "Wagovan"

The bad:
-I have little car fixing experience, but i know a few who can help.
-The missing rear light and part of the fender
-Sagging front bumper
-Dent on the front end
-The old owner drove it daily to work and he said it burns 3/4 of a quart of oil every 2-3 weeks.
Im in the process of finding the source. The old owner says its probably the oil cap at the top of the engine,
but i think its the head gasket.
-No radio or speakers
-Hatch won't stay open
-Hatch handle doesnt open the hatch
-AC doesn't cool
and some other little stuff

When i start doing some serious work on the car, i will post in the build section.

I'm diggin the tail lamp! If you want to make the other side match, you can buy those lights at NAPA or any truck parts store.

Man, that jacked up tail light bothers me so much.
I've been spending the last few days trying to find someone parting out a wagon with no luck.
Of course, they've discontinued most of the parts for this car too.
I may have to make my own tail lights after all, but its not going to look like what i've got now lol.
Im gonna have to see if i can find a company or person to fabricate that fender and make a place for new tail lights

    Hello.
I've only had my 85 a few days and thought I would p/up an odd part here or there but so far none of the local yards have anything. Part of the fun I guess.

You could always use those 4-6" long oblong lights that are normally on trailers and you could get them in LED. They're stop tail turn and DOT legal. The only thing you would need would be some reverse lamps.

I know what you mean, i looked this past weekend and they didnt even let me look, just told me they dont have what im looking for.
Out of curiousity, what are you looking for? I was able to buy a couple things from advance auto parts and found a tail light on ebay, which brings me to what im going to say next.

I actually did look into that. I was thinking about taking out the good lights and somehow fabricating new back ends to fit some trailer lights and i was also told that even if some of them
did not have dedicated reverse lights, it would still substitute as one BUT
Luckily i found out i knew someone who is willing to do the fix for me so that i can fit the original tail lights in.
Pics will be posted as soon as i have enough content to make a build thread

It's definitely not that bad for the age but it still shows. I honestly think it spent some time in a junkyard before the last 2 owners had it.

Main thing is a back hatch which I've found but I'm waiting on some pictures to check condition.

Always nice to see another wagon owner from NC. I'm from Lexington, myself. Good luck with the progress from here!
