Proud new owner of a 1988 Civic Wagon

Hello to all,

My friends call me Yogi. I have been a Hondaphile since before I started driving. I have owned stock Hondas as well as swapped and modified ones. My new baby which is going to be my daily is a 1988 Wagon, blue interior with white exterior, as bone stock as they come. I will eventually get some pics uploaded.

I have big plans for this car. My daily drivers have always had massive stereos and this one will not be any different. I plan to strip the interior, Dynamat the hell out of the car, maybe add power windows, and of course, install a deserving system. The car has 185,000 miles so it is in need of some love. All the suspension and brake components need to be replaced so I plan to just use high performance parts such as poly bushings, camber arms, coilovers, etc. Depending on what happens I may swap in a low mileage 96 Spec JDM Type R drive train that I have. For now the paint and interior can't be redone because I am a mechanic who works a lot and at the end of the day I am all dirty. I don't want to reupholster the car and then get it all full of grease.

This is the first forum that I plan to be active on. I have seen that on most car forums a lot of the people are assholes who just talk shit to each other. I have noticed that this forum does not have very much of that which is really important to me; so I joined!

I am looking forward to meeting new people, making friends, and building one awesome car.

Thanks guys, I will start a build thread soon. I'm thinking of putting together a proposed build sheet. That will probably lead to a huge shopping list. Does anyone know if there is any other way to get access to the marketplace other than having over 20 posts?
  • Put in 20 "quality" posts and you will have your access, there is no way around it.

    Ok, no problem

A little more background on myself. I run an old skool Hot Rod shop here in Southern California. We have a retail store where we sell parts and a 2 bay shop where we do everything from tune-ups to full blown customs. When I took over the shop 3 years ago it was a very one track minded place because of the previous owner. Of course our specialty is older American cars that are pre-smog, however we have slowly been expanding our offerings for newer cars. My brother (who currently works with me) and I have owned and modified all types of cars. We are not elitists or anything and appreciate all cars...except for maybe Kias and Saturns haha. Anyway, We love imports, primarily Hondas, and are trying to break the shop into that market.

Again, I am new to this whole forum experience so I am learning as I go. I've got several questions, hopefully I can get some input on them.

    1. What is your opinion on mixing old American cars and new tuner cars under one roof? Do you think that would push both crowds away? What if we offered both under one roof but managed to keep a separation? Like a different branch but with the same parent company.
    2. Is it ok to start a new thread regarding technical discussions if the topic was covered before but not fully covered?
    3. What is the correct etiquette for composing a build thread?

Again, I am welcoming everybody and anybody's opinions. Let me know what you think

  • Sweet wagon. Looks clean. Looking forward to see what you have planned
  • Bring back the thread if the question isn't fully answered, please don't start new threads!!

Build thread is whatever you want it to be...it's yours and your car.
