New guy in Portland Oregon Area

I originally owned a 91 civic wagon 5-speed back in my high school days in the late 90s. It was brown with an immaculate interior.
It was basically unmodified except for some 14in alloy wheels and a modest stereo system. I sold the car a year after getting out of college because is was burning a lot of oil. I have kicked myself ever since for getting rid of that car. I absolutely loved that car and it never let me down. If I could do it over I would have dropped a lower mileage engine into that car and would probably still be driving it today.

So the last few years I have been looking for another 5-speed civic wagon because I love the versatility of a small wagon and the great gas mileage (plus I think they look cool even though a lot of my friends disagree). So after looking for a long time, my dad, who lives a few hundred miles away found one. I told him to buy it and that I would come pick it up and even give him a finders fee. Upon picking it up it was a lot rougher than he had described, making me kick myself even more for getting rid of my old wagon. Yet I'm still happy to finally have a civic wagon again. Its a brown, 91 5-speed 2wd, just like my old one, except the interior is pretty rough and the body has some pretty ugly pin-striping. Oh, did I mention that it burns a ton of oil? So I've got my work cut out for me, between that an a 1953 Chevy suburban hot rod that I've been working on the past few years.

I'm hoping to find some of the interior parts I need on this site once I have posted enough to get into the market place :) Plus I have really enjoyed looking at everybody's cool wagons and I am getting some inspiration for what I want to do to mine. At this point I think I'm just going to do a simple rebuild of the d15 that is in the car, because my main concern is mileage and not power as this will be my new daily driver eventually.
I've already replaced the rear bumper and antenna, painted the trim, added a bike/ski rack, and fixed and cleaned a lot of things in the interior. I now at least don't feel "gross" getting into the car like I did at first. It was pretty rough. Anyway, I look forward to learn from everybody and throw in my 2-cents when I feel qualified.

Oh, and here is the only picture I could find of my old wagon, some pictures of my new one. The one with my motorcycle next to it is the old wagon. Notice the optional passenger side mirror. I'm now starting to realize that those are fairly hard to come by.
I have also included a picture of my "rat rod" suburban project.
  • Old wagon looks sweet sounds like the new one needs a lot of work?

I hear you on the "my main concern is mileage and not power as this will be my new daily driver eventually."

Mine is my daily at the moment and hoping it continues to run well for a while!
Just need to find a way to install new rear struts at the moment mine is a back breaker bottoming out on just about everything!
