Should I Mini-me?

My head gasket has begun to leak a little bit so the time has finally come to decide me next big step. I'm just looking for opinions here so just be honest. I have an 89 wago 2wd with a d15b2, I have done MPFI with a pm6. I was thinking about about putting a z6 head on it with a vafc. Is it worth it for the power or should I just swap the head gasket and save up for boost. Are there better options minime wise?

  • I'd go with the mini me unless you plan on building a completely new block for a boost application. The d15 rods are toothpicks and dont really like boost. For nice around town zippiness the minime would be great. A friend of mine had a d15b2 minime with a shaved z6 head and y8 gasket and the car was actually pretty dang fast.

    Just bear in mind: recently I've had a couple of d15 head gasket problems. Both were because the block deck wasn't flat.

  • Damn I was afraid that might happen. It hasn't overheated yet, I really only noticed it because I keep my bay spotless. I really don't want to pull the whole thing but I will definitely make sure it's level.
