Bought an RT4WD in Reno, NV

Hello all!!!! I am exited to be a member! I have been researching the wagon for years. There are never any for sale here in Northern Nevada. I also researched in Northern California to no avail. They are very rare in this area and the people that have them won't let them go because of the snow in Sierra Nevada mountains during the winter.

I finally found one, but it had bad piston rings and a blown head gasket. I didn't care because I work on Honda's and Toyota's anyway. I found another good D16A6 motor, which took a few weeks and installed it. Now it runs perfect!!!

Interior and exterior are pretty complete. Its an automatic which I prefer as its my DD (may do a manual swap later in the future). I buy, fix and and sell Honda's and Toyota 4x4's all the time, however, this one is a keeper, because its the best of both worlds, an AWD Honda!!!

Here are photo's the day after I purchased it...

I checked out your build thread and recognized your red awd. Saw you a few days ago driving by Wild Waters/Legends, I was on the other side of the intersection. Where did you get your light beagle bar?
  • Nice car!
Out of curiosity, what does a toyota front axle and steering rack (SAS) cost out there in the desert?
  • CIVEILCIVEIL New Wagonist
Around $500 to $1,000 depending on the parts and what the seller wants. A lot of people like to do the SAS swaps here because of all the off roading in the area. Someone has a Solid Axle for sale on Craigslist right now in Reno for $450...

  • Hahaha and then i gave you the thumbs up! I got it from a HCW member!? Had to drive all the way to socal to pick it up. I got a ticket on the way there too lol. You from reno!?

Yea I saw that :) I need to keep an eye out for one of those light bars, they look really good on wagons!

I'm originally from Hawaii, moved here in 2000 to go to UNR. Graduated and have been here since.

Anyone know if the sedan hood will fit the wagon? That's what I need to buy next.

    More photo's of clean up...

  • Hood and lots of other body parts are wagon specific. Please take some time and read through the quick links and tech sections as most of your questions will be answered that way.
  • Great to know. You like it here or you plan on moving out somewhere?
I'm still in High School lol!
What'd you go to school for anyways?
  • CIVEILCIVEIL New Wagonist
I majored in Criminal Justice and Psychology. I will be here for a little while longer because I just got a good job. I might move away and try to get into law school. Do you know of any other wagon owners? I know one wagon owner from my last job at Reno Toyota. Maybe we should plan a meet in our area?

Please move this post to a build thread, Thanks!
