Help: How to disengauge 4wd when a bolt is stripped?

Ive searched all over and cant find a way to budge the 4wd disegaugment lever on the t-case.
There is a sticker on the hood and diagrams in the Hains manual and owners manual. But the kicker is the lock bolt is fine.
But the bolt one up from that is stripped and thats suppose to move it from 2wd to 4wd.
Ive thought about using about anything to try to give it a "bump" to move it but have no working ideas.

Have any of you had this problem? how did you solve it.

Btw im trying to make it 2wd because there is a slight thump and vibrate from the rear.
I did remove the diff damper and the noise wasnt as loud anymore.

Thanks for the help in advanced

Try rocking the car back and forth slightly with the e brake off (put a block a little bit in front and behind a tire to keep it from running away to relieve any pressure that might be on the gear. Than either use a long pry bar from the top to try and pry it over. Or (put the ebrake back on before trying this) I've found it's pretty easy to lay under the car from just behind the driverside tire and reach up and grab a hold of the lever to loosen the bolt and move it back and forth. Soaking everything in PB blaster is never a bad idea either.

When I went to tow my car home after buying it I spent 3 hours in the dark screwing with the thing before I finally got it to move and was able to get on the road. If the selector has never been moved in the cars 20+ year life it can be quite stuck.

Alright I'll try that in a few. Thanks for the heads up! Appreciate it. Seems like no one is down to help a noob even tho I help when I can. I'm defiantly not new to hondas. But a 4wd wagon, yes haha

got it to disengage fully and tried it a few times with the same result.
every time it was like the hole transmission was disengaging and couldnt get it to move when in gear. car acts like still in neutral.
i might be a complete dumby but i thought i could do that to use fwd for daily driving.
im currently having some 4wd issues and just saving up the money to fix it all at once oppose to dropping the whole rear and suspension set up out more than once

The 4wd selector just meshes a gear that transfers power to the rear driveshaft. Move the selector to 2WD mode and that gear just doesn't mesh and transfer power to the rear but the front is in no way affected. So if you get nothing when you switch to 2WD mode I would be inclined to believe that your front wheels are never driving which may have something to do with your thumping issues. Broken or popped out drive shaft? Diff issues? There are others on here that are much more knowledgeable about what's inside the gear box that could help you with those issues. But if you look around in the forums I think someone else on this forum had the same type of problem at some point in the last year. I feel like I remember reading about it.

Here ya go... I felt like being nice and found that thread for you viewtopic.php?f=7&t=10752&start=0

check those front axles and make sure they are snapped tightly into the tranny...

I know the passenger side axle was replaced so I'll start there. With this paycheck I was planning on buy 3 new axles cause I get the 25 dollar a piece axle hook up! I'll check and take a look and see what I can find when it stops raining. The thump issue only seems to be coming from the rear tho and not the front.
