Help: How to disengauge 4wd when a bolt is stripped?

Ive searched all over and cant find a way to budge the 4wd disegaugment lever on the t-case.
There is a sticker on the hood and diagrams in the Hains manual and owners manual. But the kicker is the lock bolt is fine.
But the bolt one up from that is stripped and thats suppose to move it from 2wd to 4wd.
Ive thought about using about anything to try to give it a "bump" to move it but have no working ideas.
Have any of you had this problem? how did you solve it.
Btw im trying to make it 2wd because there is a slight thump and vibrate from the rear.
I did remove the diff damper and the noise wasnt as loud anymore.
Thanks for the help in advanced

When I went to tow my car home after buying it I spent 3 hours in the dark screwing with the thing before I finally got it to move and was able to get on the road. If the selector has never been moved in the cars 20+ year life it can be quite stuck.
every time it was like the hole transmission was disengaging and couldnt get it to move when in gear. car acts like still in neutral.
i might be a complete dumby but i thought i could do that to use fwd for daily driving.
im currently having some 4wd issues and just saving up the money to fix it all at once oppose to dropping the whole rear and suspension set up out more than once
check those front axles and make sure they are snapped tightly into the tranny...
