89 brake booster removal

I need some input please. I've done a search for this but didn't hit anything.
I started out to change my master cylinder due to lack of brakes once in a while.
when I removed the master cylinder there was fluid around in the booster inside. the MC replacement instructions said to replace the booster if there was fluid there. I got a replacement and dove in. The "civic" manual says to undo the 4 bolts and pedal pin under the dash and the booster will come out off the firewall. Now I'm at wall, or should I say manifold. the intake manifold seems to be in the way. Am I missing somthing, 'cause it aint coming out. Does something else need to be removed?

It's gonna take some finagling. It's quite a bitch to say the least.
I did mine last summer and ran into the same feelings. Patience, and beer, go a long way...

Search my posts. It was last summer, in this section. I did a 15/16' MC upgrade...
Just so we're clear- the MC is off, right?
when the booster runs into the manifold, there is still a good inch of it sticking through the firewall.
I've twisted and turned the MF-er every which way I can, on seeveral occasions now, and it doesn't wanna coma out.
the thing about getting the old one out is... how the old 1 comes out the new 1 must go back in.

Some "persuasion" may be required to rock the engine forward enuff to clear the booster.

actually, the general "civic" manual states to undo fasteners holding booster in, and remove. nothing about the intake manifold, probably due to more engine compartment on most civics. the wagon seems to be quite a bit more compact under the hood.
I do not have a wagon manual. I have been looking for a honda shop manual, with description, but have not found one.
the Honda shop manual just briefly touches on it, showing where the bolts are and the brake linkage breakdown. no actual steps for removal.
I put my brain to use about 3 weeks ago and got this figured out.
Let me see if I can recall the steps.
1 -support engine with floor jack
2 -loosen and remove front and rear tranny mount bolts
3 -loosen and remove drivers side engine mount bolt
4 -remove mount from the engine and set aside
5 -lower engine as far as it will go while still supported with jack
6 - with a 2-3 foot pry bar, place blade of pry bar on cast engine motor mount (the one your motor mount bolts to) and using the chassis mount as a leverage point, gently pry motor forward 1-2 inches and hold it there. remove booster with your free hand or get a buddy to do it fr you.
Reverse process for re-install.
I gave myself a big pat on the back after I finished.
