But we digress...
The tint that has UV protection has a quality mark on the packaging that indicates UV resistant. I would definately pay a professional to do it first time properly as it can get messy.
Just a suggestion: Search up the discussions about cargo covers if you're just trying to hide your noisemaker. Tint on just the 3 rears would look like ass anyway.

read up there. this guy knows what he is doing and is the only one I would trust to do my car besides my self.
On most of my cars I use 15% on the sides and 20% on the rear and a strip of limo across the windhield. Ive even tinted the entire windshield before at 35%.
I used Viper alarms in numorous cars and had really good luck with them. They offer ways to have the keypad open your garage door...I really liked that. My last keypad had four buttons. 1 would open/close the car, 2 would open/close the truck, 3 started the car, and 4 open/close the garage. The same setup also had a way to open/close sunroof/windows with a one touch, and a truck popper, but never bought the appropiate hardware. Loved it till I started not caring about stereo stuff. Now I have no alarms.
Do buy quality tint at a tint shop or you'll be sorry.
Here's a decent video. Use JOY dish soap diluted with water in place of their special solution (which is probably JOY and water). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=StFgjOD-3sM
then they can install for you might be cheaper and look better
my friend did this for his wrx and got all windows tinted for 100 even cuz the guy buys darker than 35% and does it out of his garage on the side
so once i get enough i'm going to him
although the tint is illegal not too many cops here give tickets for it
hope that helped any
Having said that I've got two quotes for tint @ $175 in the Atlanta metro area (one from the Northwest, one from the Southeast). Parking in an open lot next to the airport makes getting tint an attractive proposition. It's on my "to do" list.
tint lingo-
NR FILMS=means non reflective/very little performance/mostly aesthetics purpose.
HP FILMS=mean high performance/metalized film laminated to nr film or hybrid/good performance/cannot use on most newer cars-it will interfere with electronics.
NANO Ceramic or IR FILMS=means infra-red/oxidized metal so it won't interfere with electronic/same performance as a HP FILM.
there are different hues in films. most use a charcoal, i prefer gray. it has a blue hue natural to the sky and looks more black. charcoal looks more like ray bans, more green/brown look. everyones different.
lifetime warranties is a joke. a better installer with a decent film will last longer than a better film and a decent installer.
i've been in the tint industry since 1990, worked for large and small manus.. all films will eventually fail.
a good installer make a big difference.
jdm glass ask for lumar atrbr 50, if they still make it. most manus. stop making auto bronze, because longevity wasn't there.
i was told windshield started to reject uv from mid to late 80's. auto manus. began to ad uv inhibitor to the adhesive when laminating the glass. you'll notice less cracked dash board too.
pm if need more info.
