Yo!

Hey everyone!

So ive loved shuttles for ages, but dont own one, im just about to buy one... so im pretty excited :D

I used to own two cars, a 1978 ford escort mk2 and a 1999 bmw 318i, but sadly my much loved beemer was written off by a drunk driver... at 6.30pm, whats up with that! lol

Any way.. time for a shuttle! ive got lots of plans for it, and will hopefully be doing a build thread.. with lots of help from this forum of course..

Just a little about myself, i live in auckland, new zealand, i study civil engineering, and im into bmx, snowboarding, and of course.. cars!

  • FATHOEFATHOE New Wagonist
haha fair enough man.. we started doing some practicals in surveying and im finding that much more interesting to be honest. thank god we dont have to do math any more.

Hope that course is a bit more interesting for you, let me know how yours finding it, because i was considering doing like a part time course, just out of personal interest more than anything.

Im still learning a bit about cars, hence why i bought the escort to play with ;) did phat skidz when it was running, 1.1L with an open diff on a cold morning going to trainings went hard!
  • good to see another Euro guy on here
  • i did surveying with john mc and robert taylor on the first term. join nzhondas.com aswell, pretty much good info there. but if ur into shuttles more, guys here will help u alot. everyone been there in "learning" stage so you can catch up. goodluck with the ride bro!

heres the link, i just need to sus a way to get it to auckland, i dont really have time to drive it up with course and work...
  • nice shuttle man! there's towbar. im really hunting for a towbar lately, you'r lucky. its a carb'd 4wd. any more plans with it like b-swap?
  • FATHOEFATHOE New Wagonist
Cheers man, yep i was definatly thinking that, and probably stuff that requires a cert, so i can get it all cert'ed at the same time, probably some different front seats, adjustable suspension, im not sure if you need a cert for bigger breaks, but i will definatly be looking into that when i do a b swap.
But it just depends on the condition of the rest of the car for what i do
  • it closes in the next hour. goodluck on the bid.
  • FATHOEFATHOE New Wagonist
Aww was out bid by $30 owell haha, theres a few more on trademe, they are a bit cheaper too :)
  • FATHOEFATHOE New Wagonist
I bought a shuttle! NZD$1000 :) its getting a fresh wof on monday and then im sorting out transport for it! :D
Its a 1989 shuttle 55x... If that means anything to you guys haha

Where in auckland would be the best place to find a new left rear door and a spare bonnet?
  • NZ-DB8RNZ-DB8R Moderator
55x =will make a B Swap a little harder but not impossible at all.

Check pick a part for body panels
  • FATHOEFATHOE New Wagonist
    Oh really? Why is that?

Yeah that was first on my list haha.
Do you know of any honda specific wreckers? Just out of curiosity.. :)
  • NZ-DB8RNZ-DB8R Moderator
Strong for Honda, dont usually have to many of the older hondas though.

Will be harder as all the fuel injection wiring isnt there along with the fuel system. But its harder to find a 2WD injected Manual wagon than it is to convert a carby one
  • FATHOEFATHOE New Wagonist
Ill see what i can find.. cheers :)

Ahhh.. of course, ill see how i go.. hopefully its not to bad
  • lakaylakay Wagonist
hey bro. theres a green shuttle beagle at pick a part mangere. check it out. u might get some good beagle parts of from there. post a pic! goodluck wid yr shuttle bro.
  • FATHOEFATHOE New Wagonist
Cheers man, yeah ill probably end up checking that out. I will as soon a i get it! :)
  • lakaylakay Wagonist
ops. its not a beagle. a shuttle carby. ill come there aswell tom. ill check for some parts that i can use off.
  • lakaylakay Wagonist
the shuttle on pick a part at mangere is a silver one. little dent and scratch on the left rear door and bonnet is pretty okay.
  • FATHOEFATHOE New Wagonist
Oh really? Sweet, ill head out there next week :)
    Any luck with the towbar?
