'89 2wd d15 sputters between 2000-2500 rpm, and more...

Ok, my other wagon has problems too... It sputters at 2-2500 pretty badly under normal conditions, if I ease into it gently it's much less, if I accelerate normally from a stop it wants to die. If it's floored it has no problems! So if I drive like a bat outta hell in my stock, dented, 2wd automatic wagon... (lol) it's fine. But under partial load she's a pain, I have to manually down shift until I'm above 2500, from there on she's fine. Sometimes it's worse than others... Temperature doesn't matter. New plugs, cap, and wires. Picked up a coil/ignitor at pick n pull this morning, going to throw that in now, but I'm suspicious about the fuel system... Thoughts? Thanks in advance! You guys rock!

    Update! Well, I feel pretty stupid... I never checked the rotor... Rookie mistake! Damn thing had 1/4" of play! Ran to the Autozone down the street and picked one up, fixed the 2k stutter, but... It still has a bog if I punch it off the line. It goes great after it bogs for a second or two, burns the tire off the line and chirps second, which surprises me since it's an automatic. I feel it bog, almost like the choke is on or something. I know nothing about these Honda fi systems! Sorry for the lack of knowledge guys...

    Ok so it's now running worse than previously. I changed the rotor and it ran great for the day, drove it to work that night and it's bogs and sputters badly. If I floor it, sometimes it doesn't accelerate at all, and will lose all power. Sometimes it's fine. And when it is running fine I still get a damn sputter between 2k-2500 rpms. It's driving me crazy, I'm going to throw my buddy's dizzy in and see what happens. Thought I had this fixed...

    replace the fuel filter and see if that helps

    Will do! I'll change both wagons' since its easy, cheap insurance. Going to drop and flush/clean both tanks just because.
