How can I adjust the clutch cable?

I have to have the clutch pedal pushed all the way to the floor to shift, and getting into reverse it a bit of a pain. Where can I adjust the cable to give me a higher release point on the pedal?

Check if your pedal assembly is broken
  • I did that when trying to discover the source of the squeak I get whenever I press in the clutch. Even after greasing everything I could think of, it still squeaks. Nothing looked broken, however.

To answer your original question: There's a plastic adjuster nut on the cable at the transmission end.

At the front of the transmission, there is a lever which moves up and down when the clutch pedal is depressed. It is moved by the cable, and has a threaded cable end with an adjustment nut. If the cable moves a lot before raising the lever, you can adjust free-play out of the cable by tightening the nut at the end of the cable.

my cable squeaks too, always has.

the adjuster is just under the battery on the lever on the transmission. double check your pedal box, not to sound like a dink, but i've broken 2 of them.

^^ x2 mine started squeaking, and after finally adjusting the bejebus out of my cable, the pedal assembly final broke. it was squeaking because it was flexing a lot. the day it broke i was in city stop and go driving, and i could never get the clutch fully disengaged, talk about rough shifting!

anyway, visually didnt look broken till i took it off. so check it out ;)
