What do you think of this plan (rust+ body paint)

What do you ppl think about painting the car black up to the moldings on the sides?
need to remove some rust and think i rather want it black then a different red color.

any good photoshop ppl that can paint the sides black up to the moldings?

Two tone? I had my wagon two tone for awhile and I thought it looked pretty darn good.
    IMO do it.

first photoshoped then actualy did the 2tone paintjob, same reason, to cover areas that were rusty and dealt with and needed to be repainted over. heres a link to my build thread to see the photoshoping and then actual paintjob. hope it helps.

Did you paint all your mirrors/lower panels yourself? Or did you get it done?
And if you did it yourself, what kind or primer were you using?

I did do it myself, to be honest, no primer, wasnt needed, never have needed it when i do this style paintjob (done my jeep, my brothers jeep, my friends ranger, my old civic hatch, and the wago) all done this way. masked, scuffed, final wiped, and sprayed with like 6 rattle cans of european texture undercoating (more fine textured) i know, i know it isnt the right way to do it, but hey for $60-$80 in materials and 2 hours from masking-sprayed and peeled, in my mind cant go wrong. did some rust repairs before I painted, grinded it out, used that rust converter stuff, then fiberglassed it back to its shape and went onto the paint process. spraying with this stuff is idiot proof since it is finely textured and fills in realy easy, also drys very fast. anyways so all of the vehilces i have done this way are still holding up fine to this day some of them were as long as 3-4 years ago, but it does fade to a more flat lighter black, which i dont mind, and im sure eventualy after pressure washing it for 4 years it will need a respray, luckily its only another $60 and 2 hours of my time to spruce it right back up. if your a perfectionist looking for a showroom finish obviously dont go this route, if you are like me and are on a budget and just want to spruce it up a little and hide the defects i think its a great way to do so. as long as you dont mind the slight fading, eventual need for a respray, and the fine textured look.
