Hood wont close

ok just got back form vacation and started the car...started up so then i decided to just check my oil and now my hood wont latch shut. i havent opened it yet but i have the replacement cable here. should i just replace that while im fixing the hood or is it just a pain in the ass. i tried to search it but all i found was how to get at the cable but not how to fix the latch or cable.

adjust the hood latch. mine did this one time.
  • ^^ and lots of lube. 
  • The cable could be stuck in the sleeve causing it to hold open, happens a lot in older Hondas, I would replace the cable anyway and route it so no one can reach into your bumper or fender liner and pull your cable. Replacing the cable is easier if you take off the drivers tire and fender liner

or just slide the mechanism back into place with your finger. Like was said above, the cable sometimes becomes sticky in older honda's. I run an oil change sop and see numerous instances per week.

My hood latch cable binds up sometimes too. What I do is put a little oil on my finger and just to the left of the latch reach underneth and pull the cable and try to work some of the oil into the sleeve.
