Download a service manual for the appropriate year EF hatch. Wiring is the same.

Just google "Honda Service Manual" or something

did you actually swap the distributor? peterpanswagovan has a bad dizzy tach issue but all connections are straight, just a dead tach that will occasionally flicker when first started.

i didn't actually swap the distributor. im going to down load a manual and test all the connectors first. plus i dont have an extra distributor. ill let you know what i figure out.

i have a similar issue, my tach shows 0 when idling, but works soon as the throttle is applied.

this happened after i washed the engine bay a long while back. i thought it might be my dizzy getting water in it, so i swapped it with a spare one. nothing changed.

maybe the tach itself is messed up? i never bother to check that with a spare one.

A flaky ignitor can f-ck with your tach. Usually it ends up bouncing around at 3-4,000 rpm, but other things can happen. If you have a chance to try a spare distributor, do that. If you can afford to buy a new ignitor, and the one in your car is of unknown age/condition, I'd go that route. However, buyer beware. I don't know of any auto parts stores that'll accept a return on an ignitor.
