Tires/ gas mileage question

I was getting 270 per tank on the stock 14's. I just switched to ssr type c's running 215/45/17 falken azenis 615's. I now get 185 a tank.. Wtf. Would the tires really affect gas mileage that much?

Yup, weight, rolling resistance and diameter really change it..

The wheels are 14 a piece.

The new tires have a larger circumference, so your speedo & odometer read lower than actual. You are actually getting more miles than it says. (Be careful about speeding)

But, that doesn't even come close to accounting for the total loss of mileage. I suspect that much of it is from the super sticky Azenis... that are also much wider. Your rolling resistance increased big time. But, I bet you can take corners much faster!

Yup. Your 14s are either 23.2" in diameter (195/60-14) or 22.7" (185-60/14). The 17s are 24.62" in diameter. Your speedo at 75mph with the old tires would put your car at an actual speed of around 79-80mph with the 17s when the speedo says 75.

Would take more gas to bring it up to speed as well.. one time I put just slightly larger tires on my accord and I already noticed it harder to accelerate and brake because of the leveraging
