1991 wagon 4wd clutch issue

i took the car into a dealership and they said it could be the throwout bearing or it could be something else. they dont know.

i took it to another place and they said it could be the clutch getting too old and that the springs are gone and wont flex back correctly.

basically what is going on is that my clutch is having a sticky feeling when releaseing it up and kinda of a binding feel when pressing it down. i thought it was like last time when i just changed out the clutch cable and it seemed to work out fine. this time it didnt clear it up. i dont know if its a defective cable or is it what these people are saying it is.

questions:
does anyone else have the same issues?
should i try to fix it myself?
is it what they are saying is the problem?
i was thinking of going stage one but i dont want the clutch to feel too harse for my daily driver.
if i should go with a non oem clutch, which brand and type, for a semi oem feel?

dude, mine did the same thing but was a cable. are u sure the cable is adjusted right? you might need to tear it apart and replace the clutch.
  • Blood thursty dealer-stealers...Will stick a "blind" customer with a fony estimate. Most of all they know what the problem is/was!
It is very common on a cable operated clutch to have chatter of a cable is fryed!
    Cheers!

no kidding about the deaers... they wanted $650 just to replace my tierods. i told them they can suck my balls and went home and did it myself in 30 minutes, never done them before either.

Sounds like the clutch just needs to be adjusted, but they are right, they won't know the full extent of the problem until they open it up an take a look.

So why did you pay the money?

I would have expected them to at least check the cable adjustment as part of the inspection.

if i didnt pay they would keep my car.

they did do the wire inspection as they claim.
