1985 = EW4
1986-87 = D15a3
The EW4/D15A3 is the exact same engine...Honda just aligned the engine codes to the D-series taxonomy.
The wiring harness/electrical connectors were altered in '86 but the engine is still the same. There are internet rumors that the EW4 had a more aggressive cam, but no conclusive proof.
Same thing for the wagons. My '87 reflected the change with a D15a2 stamp.
