87 wagovan speaker pods in an 88?

I was wondering if anyone has done this. I had a guy come in with one today and he had speaker pods in the rear they look different from 88's but would it work or be really ghetto? Said he would take 10.00 for them. Thanks.

    get them, you could resell them.

    Yea they look different like they seem to have a latch or something that looks like it supposed to hold a cargo cover. They are also open on the bottom. I guess ill get em I just really hoped they would some how work in mine.

    Yes, there's a shelf that goes in between the two speaker mounts. It's carpet-covered wood and hinges in the middle. My family has an '84 wagon and an '89, both with the rear speaker mounts. The '89's also got the roll-up cargo cover. The rear speakers in the '84 don't sound good at all without the shelf in place and the seats up since the mounts are open on the bottom. I'd have to look at the shape of both car's hatches, but I'm not so sure the old shelves would fit all that well in the newer wagon. It would be a cool project if you got them to fit and made a shelf for the middle, though. The '84-'87 wagon's cargo cover is so much nicer than the one in the '88-'91 wagon.
