Looking to raise my wagon

hello, I recently acquired a fwd 1990 civic wagon in decent shape, but it's been lowered and I really don't care for it. I've looked for a set of stock springs but parts are hard to come by for these little cars. My question was, will stock springs from an ef hatch or sedan work? If not what are some other options?

I have a set of stock wagon springs, from a 91 FWD. I'd sell them to you just make me an offer.

    Just the springs?
  • Dash-N-CarsDash-N-Cars Senior Wagonist
    Yeah just the springs.

Yeah I have completely aftermarket shocks. I was looking for 4 stock shocks, or could I put stock ef hatch springs on?

You could go with EF hatch shocks, but if your wanting something more to a stock height I would go with the DA Integra shock/stut combo. They are designed to be more load bearing then the EF hatch shocks. They are fairly comparable to the actual OEM wagon suspension.

I have a chance to get a set of 4 stock da shocks on craigslist: http://portland.craigslist.org/mlt/pts/2022009428.html

These would bolt up right up to my wagon?

Yes and will raise it higher than standard when used with DA springs

What kind of aftermarket suspension do you have? I may be willing to buy it off of you, if you want to part with them.

Well I bought those da springs off craigslist for $70 (yes I talked him down a whole $10). Seems like a good deal, when I get around to installing them in the next few days I'll keep you updated on what brand the coil overs are if anyone's interested.
  • Dash-N-CarsDash-N-Cars Senior Wagonist
Yeah I'd be interested for a good price. Or if you wanted to trade for something, good luck with the DA's.

Well I replaced all 4 shocks with the da package. first off there were NOT coilovers on the car, there were stock struts with shorter springs, like nearly half the length of a stock spring (craigslist idiots). The car rides about 100x better now and I'm not scraping over every little bump. The only complaint I have is that the da rear shocks are a bit longer and the car sits a little high in the rear, and The stock rear tires have a bit of negative camber to them.

    Got any pics?

Yeah I'll try to get some tomorrow. I could go snag a couple pics of the atrocities that I pulled off of there.
  • I'd like to raise mine too, only a little HIGHER than stock. I need extra ground clearance for the snow and rocks on those logging roads. An inch or maybe 2 would be enough. I've been looking quite a bit and get overwhelmed with all the mods available. Looking for the cheapest, easiest way to raise the ride. Adjustable coilovers are very expensive for what I want to achieve. Is it possible (practical) to insert a spacer at the top of shock mount? I am a machinist and have access to equipment, so fabbing something up is no problem.

    Thanks

search around on here, i was just reading a thread about a guy making spacers to go under the shocks to raise his wagon. I think its the same member that fabed the 2" receiver to pull his quads, but I could be wrong.
  • Damn! I've got to sharpen my searching, found it. The pictures of the spacer on top of the shock are just what I was thinking of. Thanks

That's what I pulled off of there. I might look into some spacers for the front.

Damn that thing is ridin' high! Good luck with the spacer build.

Oh man...DA rear springs look perfect for what I want to do. Fronts too low though. Need to figure out what to put upfront there to level it up. Then we can get some real tires under there and hope the little engine can get them moving....

I love this. Can it still handle ok with a raise or does it roll?
  • running the stock DA configuration the car should handle nearly as stock with a bit firmer ride to it due to the added spring rate
  • GeNXGeNX Wagonist
As far as DA goes does that mean off any Integra or just second gen?
  • DA would be basically any 90-93 integra

    lol, looks funny.
  • I applaud all the stump jumpers on here.
What size wheel/tire are you trying to stuff up in there?
BFG A/T's with a skinny side wall slightly stretched on a 7 or 8 inch wide wheel, boner time.

but my brake upgrade made me go with a 15inch rim..
so with the brakes and rims i didn't have enough cash for the tires but next time around WATCH OUT..!

if your looking to raise your car more springs for a 96-99 ek are about 2" longer, not sure if they would work on a wagon shock or not but its worth a shot.

I like how there was a wagon rear shock and a non-wagon rear shock on there. Bet that made the settings wonky. lol
