What paint to buy and where to buy it?

im asking anyone who has painted their car with actual auto paint with a spray gun.
i have the next 10 days off for vacation and i want to use that time to start painting my car.
i want a satin pearl orange color.
this is probably way too simple but as far as applying the paint. primer, satin base, matte clear?
i went to a local auto paint shop asking about some paint. they told me $700 something for a gallon... HAHAHAHA what the fuck?
then looked online and im not finding quite what im looking for. cant find the combo of satin, pearl, orange
who knows where i can get this?
and maybe some tips for painting?
i have no pretty much no experience painting

I've been painting cars professionally for six years, and my dad has been in the business for over 30. I'd recommend Dupont or house of kolor. Your best bet is to go to a local automotive refinishing store and tell them what you want to do. You'll need a sealer, base coat, and a matt clear. I bet your looking at $1500 when it's all said and done. Paint and body work is not cheap nor is it easy. Also very time consuming.
Google search And you'll find a lot of great step by step guides to prep and paint work. You're going to need a pretty big air compressor, one that pumps some pretty serious air.
It's not an easy task, but it is doable.
i did go to a refinishing store. when they said $700 just for paint i said screw that. for that much i could have someone else paint it. it wouldnt be a great job but still...
ive read other people going with flat or satin paint and saying to use matte clear.
i dont want a glossy look. thats why i thought i should use matte clear. what should i use?
similar to this but orange
this guy says he used hot rod flatz, vintage burgundy pearl from here

theres a copper orange pearl listed on that site but i want something brighter than that.
ill look into dupont
You have to realize that when you buy paint. You must buy more than just literally the paint. You'll need the color, then you'll need some reducer to mix with the color so it is sprayable.
sealer has a reducer and a hardener as well, so thats two more things you'll need to buy.
matt clear ALSO has a reducer and a hardener that you'll have to buy to make it sprayable. you dont just pour stuff from a can and then spray it unless its pre-mixed from the store (which will only last 12-24 hours before the paint goes bad)
if you're looking for a cheap alternative to painting your car, i've seen some guys do wonders on a flat color with a rattle can. it may not last forever. but you can get any paint you'd like mixed up in rattle can form. google around and you'll see some GREAT write-ups on how to do a $500 paint job. just remember you'll be re-doing that $500 paint job every year or so.
i believe prepping and wet sanding is key to a good paint job. both came out clean(no orange peel/dust/waves) and color came out deep.
just like tinting-a good installer can make any brand tint look good. its the same for paint.
what color have you decided on?
good luck to you.
