Crown Nut problem. Any ideas? Help

I tightended my ball joint and tie rod to the specified torque and now my cotter pins are well below the crown.

ps the car was in the air when I torqued them.

  • I've had that happen plenty. The only thing I ever do about it, is try and twist the ends of the cotter pin up into the slots of the nut to try and stop them turning. I've never had one back off on me.

you could put in a thick washer.
  • If you feel like redoing it some blue loctite would probably give you an added level of security.

Thanks I feel a little better now. I might try two bolts where I can and locktight/washer where I can't. I heard this is a common problem with aftermarket parts. At first I thought maybe they forgot to grease in the boot.
