Weathering your wagon

does anyone know what product to weather(rust prevention) to spray the wheel well with?
when i bought my wagon the previous owners had receipts for winterizing the cars under carriage from the dealer.
bed liner stuff is permanent, the stuff it had came off during the summer.

just gathering any opinions and confirming the little knowledge i have in colder climates. i'm from san diego

its about to start snowing in a week or two.

thanks,

I use the same type of product as Ziebart uses for any inside areas, like inside of doors, quarter panel wheel houses, etc. It's a type of wax that is sprayed from an aerosol can that drys after a day or so. You should be able to pick some up at any bodyshop supply company. And for the underneath of your car use rubberized undercoat. Don't cheap out on it though as the cheaper ones are an ugly brown color and do not have the same protection capabilities.
  • Do you spray the rubberized undercoat yourself as well?

Yes it can also be purchased in an aerosol can.

Here is what we use at my shop: INTER-GUARD RUST PROOFING WAX

And the undercoat is part number 08881

Again these are just personal preferences but they have served me well and every car I have ever owned has had this done to them by me.
  • Ive heard of a electronic device you attatch to the chasis that reverses the charge of the metal so rust want be attracted...they use it on hotrods. ill see if i can find the link

If that worked half as well as what they say it does then every car would have it from factory.
Cars used to have a positive earth system for this very reason, but it didnt work
