Heater lights go off or on when switching fan speed

Anyone know why and how to fix the lights behind the heater knobs that go off when I turn the fan on. Sometimes the fan won't turn on then I turn the switch off and then on again and it works.

Gauge lights work fine.

    your best bet is to get the heater cluster out and go through and check connections and replace bulbs
    cleaning all the contact points will help a ton also
