when you did the thermostat did you flush out the entire coolant system..... also switching the heat from hot to cold..

heater core is probably stopped up..

  • ya i flushed it all out... what did you mean switch back and forth? like when its already on? How do you replace the heater core?

i just did my heater core. involves removing the dash, removing the hoses from under the hood, pulling out the heater unit and replace the core. You might want to check if the heater core is plugged up first. Just remove the IN/OUT hoses to the heater core and try to flush it. May also check if the value on the inlet hose is opening when you set your heat on high.

good luck. outside temp is 22 degrees over here. brrrrr!

thanks. i guess i didnt flush it enough, i kinda just drained the coolant. a friend was saying take it to a self service car wash. pop off the hose from the firewall to the head and pressure water threw it. any thought on that. it sounded good and that he did it last night. Also what hoses could he be referring to. and ya it dropped to -3 last night. FREEEZZZIIINNNGG

Yeah that sounds fine. As long as you can get those hoses off. Mine were completely stuck on, I ended up having to cut them. There are 2 hoses stacked vertically that go into the firewall from the engine bay. the bottom one has a valve, thats the inlet. The top is the outlet. In and out of your heater core. If something is plugging it up you can try to pressure water thru it to try and to flush it out, but if its clogged for good, you'll end up needing to replace it. I had to replace mine because it was leaking. $85 at O'Reily's.

so im gonna wanna un plug both of them and spray into the lower. i drove it this morning and i get heat but just not as good and a true honda heater. also... lol. im having problems with my rear defrost, only the top 5 lines work, and were do i put washer fluid for the read wiper.
  • Did you check that the cable is still attached to the valve that opens and closes to allow hot water to flow through the heater core?

Its located on the firewall just to the right of the fuel filter
