Should I or should I not?

Ok so I've been into the Honda scene for awhile and my car and only car is a 91 crx si and now I'm looking at a wagon.

Should I get this........
It's a 91 fwd wagon with 168,300 miles. The owner is a painter so the rear seats have been folded down and there is paint splatter all over the trunk and the rear bumper. He said the head gasket need to be replaced when he got it so he changed it him self. I noticed there was oil below the valve cover and I think it needs a valve cover gasket. He also told me he changed the motor mounts and tranny mount. No AC because he said the condenser needs to be replaced and I also noticed the blower resistor needs to be replaced. But this is what worries me, I noticed the main relay was hanging out from under the dash like he recently had to get to it. Why would that be and should I worry? He was asking 1200 and I got him down to 800 but his wife wants more so I hope it's still 800.

Main relay is no big deal. We all go through it sooner or later. All things mechanical on these cars are minor, so it boils down to whether the shell is clean enough to warrant the price.

Only 2 dents on the fender. Rear bumper is black so idk if it's a new one but it does have paint drips all over it and there is a screw holding the corner of thE bumper in.

It's hard to tell without seeing the whole car, but I might pass unless the price got closer to $500. 168k is a lot of miles, and the car is almost 20 years old. You could get something more modern for just a little more money.

I live in SA Texas and there is one wagon on craigslist maybe every 5 months. I only got to see the car at night so I'll try to take pictures this weekend when I go to look at it.... Oh and the battery light is on but they said it has a new battery. Hmmm

Well I went to look at it and it's crappy. But what really turned me away was that I pulled the wires out to where the spark plugs go and it was completely filled with oil. I tried offering 500-600 but he said no. It also didn't start the second time I tried turning it on and I had to jump it.

    Good deal or no?
  • Nothing there, listing deleted.

$500-$600 is about right man. Dude, work with the guy, women not allowed in when it comes to working out a deal. They want more and more its never enough for them. Good luck man.

Main relays are incredibly common for EF's. I carry one in the car at all times. I'm sure it was hanging because it's a pain to get to in it's normal location so I wouldn't worry too much about that part of the car.
  • The car is worth whatever you are willing to pay. I have seen people pay a lot more for a much worse condition car. There are also those who are willing to pay good money for just a good shell, then there is the fact it is an RT. If the body is in good shape to many the rest is irrelevant because everything else most can fix.

Main relays usually just require some re-solder of the points... your just a couple knocks to get the contacts connected.
