What to look for when buying a Wagon.

Since I know next to nothing about the Honda Civic Wagons, I would like to know what I should be looking for, and what makes one Wagon better than the next. Now I know the obvious stuff to look for considering that I do work at Advance Auto Parts and own 2 older vehicles. The only thing I don't understand is what is rare, and whats not on the wagons. I need some helpful hints to know when I have a good buy, and when I should just walk away. Thanks for your help!

I look for a straight body and NO RUST. All the options are easy bolt-ons, desirable ones are
    Right side mirror
    speaker pods
    floor mats
    lower center console
    speaker pods
    window visors
    roof rack
    rear mudflaps

Notice I didn't mention engines? Clean shell is paramount, engines and transmissions are so plentiful and cheap as to not be a factor.

when i was looking for a wagon... look for a the color you want, clean body as much as possible, clean title, still drives decent, and the most important part... the COST for the wagon... i only paid 650 for mines... and i was very happy...

Yea I really cant be to picky on color as of right now. I have e-mailed all three of the ones here in NC on CL and none have replied its kinda pissing me off... So ill be lucky to get one haha

Yeah you have to just call those guys on CL, they never respond to email.

But as far as your concerned, the main rule of the wagon is...The interior is GOING to be a complete wasteland. There is a very rare like 2 percent of wagons on this planet that have a "decent" interior. And a given, your driver seat is going to look like someone sat it in wearing a razorblade thong, in other words, its going to be torn up.

My wagon looked like literal hell, but gave her a really good tune up, and it runs like it was new. Good luck with your search.

well thanks, and yea i guess on my next day off ill start calling people... i just rather not call until first have an e-mail but i guess people with civic wagons do things diff lol...

Na its people all over CL, I guess their given email is different from their main email. It some odd ball address, I have yet to get a response back from an email on there. But have gotten an immediate response every time from calling or texting.

Well, I think that they would take calls more seriously than just emails... I guess...

Thank you for this helpful post. Is this true about at4wd drive trains also?
  • Front fenders without dents seem to be rare and are "Wagon only".
  • i guess the biggest thing to be concerned about is rust and the title being 'clear.'

As rare as these wagovans are, beggars can't be choosers, so i'm hoping i can find a decent foundation to build on.

Still searching for the right one here. Drove 4 hours to check one out and it was tore up! Such a bummer.

I'd guess that about 20% of wagons have them.
