Rust!?!?

How can honda honestly build a car that is so easily rusted. I'm doing bodywork on my 88Rt and I honestly think I could find the holy Grail before I could find a non rusty panel anywhere near a Honda around here. Anyone got any solutions for making a panel when so much is gone you don't know the shape any more? I'm just trying to get this done and painted before winter, at this rate I don't think it's happening.

    I have 5 1/2 Georgia wagons, no rust here...

    To the OP: seriously, if it's that badly decomposed, a shell swap would be much easier and last longer once done. If I were in your shoes, I'd import a car from somewhere south- auto, 2wd, whatever- and put the RT goodies on it.

    Eh I think ima try to make a mold of a clean fender, then glass it into the quarter. I really don't have the cash for another wagon, I still need to repair the awd, need the shaft past the vc to get it ready for snow burnouts. I'm just going to hold on to it as long as possible, then swap the bits into my 88 2wd. I was just hoping someone had another idea on fabricating a panel that is close to the original.

    Salt is really killer on speeding up the rust growth, nothing can take it but galvanized steel!

    Thankyou for bumping up an old thread to add something everyone already knows. We know you need posts for marketplace access but posting on long forgotten about threads is not the way to go about it
