Old school members: Have you seen an influx of new members?

So I got a wagon in September of 2007, and made my first post shortly after. I kept her for a while and then sold her to buy an EP...which I then sold to get another wagon. In March I posted again with a new wagon, and this time around it seems like 3-4 times a week there are new people joining the site with fresh wagon dreams.

I don't recall it being this busy my first time around, but don't really have the history on this site that others have. Has it gotten busier? Whats the reason? Bisi?

Just a random thought I had on the way into work today.

i joined a little while back also.... didnt even have my RT @ that time....
i agree it has gotten busier

im thinking since there are more "HOW TO's" on anything and everything from rims to brakes and motor or tranny swaps then all the interchangeable stuff also....

I can't remember the exact numbers, nor do I have current numbers, but we pretty much doubled in the last year

im not old school but wagon attack 2 inspired me to go buy a rt4wd wagon and then bisimoto released his wagon so i think that is what caused the sudden growth.
  • Bisimoto and honda tuning are probably the main reason.

thanx i totally forgot all about that.... :!:
those NJ GUYS did it.... had to go and get n the magazine ...
  • I showed up because I talked to one of the members at Import Alliance. I've always liked the wagons, actually owned an 85 4wd for a while, and decided to try to find an 88-91. I didn't know about the honda tuning or bisimoto stuff til I got here...

When I joined I didn't have a wagon yet but I wanted one. But I was never on enough to know if traffic has picked up around here

I woUld guess between Wagon Attack and Bisihomo that it's trendy to get a wagon. I know in my area everyone used to say WTF is that ugly thing, now I get a new offer for both of mine every week.

Im new and i have to say i feel in love with the wagon before i saw bisimoto, or wagon attack, just because it was a very functional wagon that got killer MPG and had the 4wd option.. but when i watched wagon attack for the first time it made me start to search craigslist and a week later i found mine. Bisi on the other hand made me decide to keep my SOHC and build it :)
  • i noticed that since wagon attack 2 and bisi wagon came out the wagon came popular. it sucks to find a 2wd drive for cheap. i got an 88rt but i still want a 2wd 88 or 89 (hate autobelts). i will just keep on looking till ill find the right one.

The numbers actually don't reflect a massive increase in numbers due to things like wagon attack II and bisimotos wagon, but they certainly had their own minature booms in new signups.

Moreso if i took a ruler and lined it up against the graph there's petty much a straight line in terms of registration increases... i'll see if i can line something up to show what i mean.

I know I'm certainly not an oldschool member. but I've bought and modified over 30 cars (about 1/2 of them hondas...the other 1/2 old toyotas) and I had never seen a modded wagon till oct 2008 when some guy wanted to trade me his '89 wagon with a '99 b16 w/ ef9 sir trans, full coilovers, and 16x8+15 xxr's and a bunch of other goodies for my 89 cressida with full coilovers and 17x8's.... I fell in love with the wagon and traded a few days later...
but in the last year and a half I have seen wagons get soo much press on the blogs, magazines, and with many nice images floating around flickr, it's hard not to see why interest had doubled.

I think one thing that attracts people to the wagon is 1) it's cheap still and 2) it's NOT the trendy car to have. it's cool to do you own thing and be different. I like having people get almost offended when they see a modded wagon. not trying to look cool and just trying to have fun is.... well.. cool.

    my 2 cents

I have to say the Honda-tech thread along with this forum here made me buy a wagon.

Seeing the NJ wagons, Ragin Bull (cream wagon?), Billboard's wagons etc etc really made me want one.

I think that the fact that there is now some really huge Wagon builds coming out that are attracting more and more people. Those who hadnt even considered a Wagon before.
  • Im a fresh off the boat kind of noob, but I figured I would toss my 2 cents in lol. I have always had a soft spot for wagons and hatchbacks of any nature, but until about a year ago didnt really know that the honda civic wagon was really even out there, mostly because they are so hard to find / see around here. I seen the wagon attack 2 video, and was really impressed. I liked the body lines, the fact it was a dependable honda, and also that it came optional with 4wd. So I guess you could say I came because of wagon attack 2, but stayed because of how neat the honda civic wagon is.
