Another noob from the PNW

Howdy gang! The name is Dave and I live in north central Washington state. Just came across this site a few days ago and it is just what I have been looking for. Don't know why it took so long to find - I guess I just didn't google the obvious!

Anyhow, I thought I would take a moment and introduce everyone to my two RT's. I first bought the red '91 with about 1/4 million miles on it, pretty rusty and generally worn out but still runnin' strong and with a surprisingly good condition gray interior underneath all the dirt (except for the carpet and drivers seat that is). Last fall I came across the blue '88 on Ebay with only 185,000 on it and was in much nicer shape over all except for a crunched hood and headlight. I found it in the Seattle area but it must have been someones garage baby because it has almost no rust at all.

My main purpose for it is to make it primarily a ski car or Trailhead Access Vehicle. I'm into practically every kind of skiing - especially backcountry. These cars get around awesome in the snow and they have a nice low loading height for a roof box (new one on the way!), the tail gate makes a nice weather cover while you are sitting on the bumper which makes a perfect bench seat for getting boots on and having lunch or whatever. And they haul a butt load of gear! And one of the best things about it... it ain't a Subaru! Can't hardly spit around here without hittin' one of those things!

Right now I am working on swapping the grey interior from the donor car for the baby blue interior (which is in very good condition, other than the drivers seat and carpet, and will be looking to sell or trade it at some point). I just like the grey better and I wanted to pull the door panels and fix the severe dust leaks and chase some rattles out and lube the moving parts and so forth. Not looking to make any kind of a street machine out of it, in fact I woudn't mind gaining some ground clearance. I will probably be running two sets of tires and wheels seasonally and need to figure out what I want still. Would also like to do some moderate external performance upgrades or possibly do an engine swap - the Vtech sounds hot but I have much to read and thnk about yet.

Looking forward to learnin' lots, doing a little buy, sell and trade, and maybe catching one of the NW meets sometime.
